Meet the Directing Team

Anna Kurzynski
Dance Major, Senior Directing Team Member
This year marks Anna's third year both dancing and choreographing for the production. She's also had the opportunity to perform in the final concert in December since her freshman year. Anna's choreographic works have been selected to be a part of a variety of performances, including Arts Bash 2016 and 2017 (Trois Femmes and Business Casual), Afterimages 2016 (Business Casual), and the American College Dance Association-North Center Conference 2017 (Business Casual) in the adjudicated concerts.  Anna says she wanted to be on the Directing Team because " I absolutely love the Afterimages process, and feel that is vital to our artistic growth as dance students here at UWSP." She goes on to state that "Being on the directing team allows me to lead, and share my passion for this concert with not only my peers, but also the campus and greater Stevens Point community." Anna is most excited for creating a new work with her cast this season, and she looks forward to another great production of Afterimages!

Sarah Fenander
Dance Major, Senior Directing Team Member
Sarah has performed in Afterimages in 2014, 2015, and 2016. She chose to apply for the directing team to get experience producing and directing a show. She loves seeing the "behind the scenes" aspect of the many steps in which a show is put on.
Sarah's favorite part of Afterimages is being able to express herself through choreography and placing it onto her peers. She also enjoys working with her fellow classmates on helping them embody their choreographic ideas. She says, "It's a great way to jump into the semester and begin working again."

Maddie Adams
Dance Major, Junior Directing Team Member
Maddie has performed in Afterimages in 2015 and 2016. This year is her first year choreographing for the show and she is excited to be a part of all three processes of putting on this student run show, performance, choreographing, and directing.
Maddie wanted to join the Directing Team to gain experience in a leadership role, working behind the scenes, and to help seek confidence in herself and the environment around her. Her favorite part about Afterimages is that it's a student run show, showcasing the many talents and hard work that the dance program students have put their own time and effort into. The process is a great way to form new relationships and embody new ideas and creations.

Joe Svihel
Dance & Health Science Major, Junior Directing Team Member
Joe has been involved in Afterimages and Afterimages Unplugged since his freshman year. This is his second year choreographing, and he has performed in Afterimages 2016 and Artsbash 2016 in the work On the Corner of East and 10th (some call it Funk) choreographed by Claire Penning. Joe wanted to be a part of the Directing Team to gain more production experience, and to collaborate and share ideas with a group of peers. His favorite part about Afterimages is that it is completely produced and organized by students-he also enjoys seeing all the aesthetically pleasing work created by fellow choreographers.
